A Portadown man was convicted in his absence on Monday, December 22, at Craigavon Court for disorderly behaviour and assault on the police.

Keith Shevlin (42) of Fitzroy Street did not turn up and the case went ahead in his absence.

The court heard that on October 13 just before 7pm at Fitzroy Street the defendant was shouting and swearing at police. He pushed an officer in the chest.

District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, recorded convictions for both offences.

A defence barrister said he had been at home drinking when police called to see his partner and it escalated.

Shevlin was fined £200, with a £15 offender’s levy, for disorderly behaviour and £200 for assault.
