After taking a knife from his waistband a 34-year-old man started brandishing it at two men, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Friday.
He was Piotr Filip Czarnoskutow, Clonavon Avenue, Portadown, and he admitted possession of an offence weapon and unlawful assault on May 13 this year.
The court heard that police responded to a call concerning a male in possession of a knife in Meadow Lane in Portadown.
CCTV showed the defendant taking a knife from his waistband which he brandished towards two males who had assaulted his friend.
The knife had a six-inch blade and the defendant waved his hands at a security guard who was afraid of being assaulted.
The defendant was spoken to the next day and he said he had the knife for self-defence.
District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said that given the defendant’s record a pre-sentence report would be required and he adjourned the case until September 4.
