A Gilford man tried to walk out of a Tesco store without paying for a television.

Brendan Douglas (33), Bannview Terrace, admitted theft of goods valued at £358.78 from Tesco, Craigavon on December 19. He was fined £250 and a £15 offenders levy.

The court heard he was seen to remove the security tag from the television. He then headed towards the car park where he was stopped by security staff.

Defence solicitor said Douglas was very remorseful. District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates noted this was his first time for a dishonesty offence.
