Moyraverty Arts and Drama Society will be performing The Little Mermaid in Portadown Town Hall Theatre for a run of four performances.

The show opens tonight (Friday) at 7.30pm, and continues tomorrow (Saturday) at 2pm and again at 7pm and ends on Sunday at 7pm.

It will feature a very talented cast with Blathnaid O’Hagan from Derrytrasna and Catilin McWilliams from Lurgan sharing the part of Ariel with two performances each.

The audience is invited to go ‘under the sea’ as MADS present Disney’s Tony award-nominated Broadway musical.

This stage adaptation of the beloved Academy Award-winning 1989 film comes to life in Portadown in a stage production the entire family will enjoy. MADS will be one of the first regional society’s in the country to present this updated version of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, with new orchestrations which have enhanced this fabulous production.

Ariel, a lovely young mermaid, spends her days dreaming of what life on land (as a human) might be like. With so many magical inventions and curiosities “as well as a very handsome prince” the world above the water proves to be more irresistible than a girl of the sea can withstand. When Ariel trades her voice for the chance to live and walk on land for long enough to make the prince fall in love with her, she sets in motion a dramatic and sometimes humorous series of events that will ultimately change her life forever.

The Little Mermaid features new as well as familiar tunes including all of the classic songs from the film, such as Part of Your World, Les Poissons, Under the Sea, and Kiss the Girl.

Filled with enchanted characters, brilliant waterscapes, and beloved music, this production will certainly delight the young and will surely rekindle pleasant memories of youth and love in the young at heart.

Tickets are priced at £6 and can be purchased from Print Business Supplies, Market Street, Lurgan, Winnie’s Newsagents, Woodhouse Street, Portadown, Greene’s Nisa Local, Legahory Shopping Centre, or just come along and pay at the door and be allocated a seat at any of the four performances.
