Nicola O’Hare is a budding Rose of Tralee. Nicola (25) has just been crowned the County Armagh ‘Rose’ and is hoping to be the first-ever from the Orchard County to win the world-renowned title in the County Kerry town in August.

Nicola is the Subway field support manager at Evron Foods, the Carn firm that supplies the ‘sub’ giant with a wide selections of bread.

In her video interview in Armagh, she told how she loves the fair county, and that other proud moments have been her selection for the Ulster Netball team and travelling to Uganda with a charity to help build a school in the East African country.

Nicola, whose home is near Armagh, took the county title at the City Hotel, having the edge over the other eight contestants. She said, “I’m very proud to be representing County Armagh in this international competition which is in its 55th year and will see 32 Roses converge on Tralee in August.”

Nicola received several prizes including a Newbridge Silverware jewellery set; a photo-shoot with hair by celebrity hairdresser Keris Weir (MG Hair); and make-up artist Carla Baile (Pretty Flamingo Boutique)

Fab Beauty donated a gift voucher, and the prizes included a bespoke head piece from millinery by Mairead Wear, a statement scarf from Curiosity Boutique in Lurgan. Various dresses have been supplied by - ‘Bella Me,’ a new and up-coming dress boutique, ‘Bows’ of Newry for the official parade; Lily Pink of Markethill, with two dresses for her individual interview and opening ceremony.

The Rose of Tralee isn’t just a beauty contest. Personality is paramount, plus concern for the community.
