Education Minister and Upper Bann MLA John O’Dowd has turned down a proposal to increase capacity at Seagoe Primary School in Portadown.
The proposal was to expand the enrolment from 249 pupils to 320 pupils. The co-educational school currently has 291 pupils and a 52 place nursery unit.
Mr O’Dowd said, “Enrolment trends at the schools in the local area indicate that there are sufficient places to meet the current demand. To allow Seagoe PS to increase beyond its current approved enrolment number has the potential to impact adversely on other schools in the area.”
