A man and woman who pleaded guilty to a shoplifting offence have denied that they went equipped for the theft.

Vygandas Petryla (39) and Jolanta Petryliene (37), both of Watson Street, Portadown, appeared last at last Wednesday’s sitting of Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Both pleaded guilty to the theft of flasks valued at £15 from TK Maxx on January 9 this year.

They are denying a charge that on the same date they went equipped for theft with a bag.

Jolanta Petryliene is further charged with going equipped for theft with a magnet on January 9.

She also pleaded not guilty to this charge.

The case was adjourned until April 6 so that a date for the contest could be fixed.
