Police issue incorrect statement over drugs search
Mr O’Kane has been acting on the man’s behalf and contacted local officers about the issues raised as the result of the original police statement. The PSNI said: “Police incorrectly stated last week that a 34-year-old man had been charged with possession of class B drugs with intent to supply and possession of class B drugs. This was incorrect. He was arrested on suspicion of these offences following a search in the Balnamore area, but released on bail until 05 March pending further enquiries. He was not charged. We do not discuss the security of any individual.
However, if we receive information that a person’s life may be at risk we will inform the relevant persons accordingly. We never ignore anything which may put an individual at risk. No inference should be drawn from this.”
