Two retired, local principals are among 20 members appointed to the board of the new Education Authority, which will be established formally on April 1.
Mr Raymond Pollock, who lives in Portadown and is a former principal of Banbridge Academy, retired last year. He is an associate placement assessor for Stranmillis University College and director of the charity ‘Love for Life’.
He was the sole person nominated by the Association of Controlled Grammar Schools to represent the interests of these schools.
Mrs Deirdre McDonald, principal of St Catherine’s College in Armagh, who retires next month, was the sole member nominated by the SDLP.
The Education Authority will replace the five education and library boards (ELBs).
