Two concurrent prison terms were handed down to a 28-year-old man last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Liam Lavery, Ardowen, Craigavon, appeared in court by way of videolink from Maghaberry prison.

He was given three months for disorderly behaviour on August 31 last year and four months, to run concurrently, for assault on the police.

The court heard that at 1am a police mobile patrol in William Street, Lurgan, saw the defendant drinking from a bottle of Buckfast.

Lavery refused to hand it over and walked across the street before throwing the bottle at the police vehicle.

A barrister representing the defendant said he had taken far too much alcohol and had no recollection of the incident.
