Retired nurse delighted to be an MBE recipient
Ann was a founder member of Belfast ‘U3A’ and served for many years as Secretary for the Region and as Trustee for Northern Ireland.
In addition she sits on the board of NI Chest heart and Stroke.

Hide AdAnn who lives in Alberdelghy gardens thought a mistake had been made when she was informed of the honour.
She said: “I thought they had made a mistake. It was so out of the blue but I am delighted and at the same time humbled I must say.”
Ann was nurse by profession and specialised in neurology at Musgrave Park Hospital. She then took up the role of Director of the MS Society in 1983 and retired in 1999.
It was after she retired Ann became involved with the University of the Third Age as a volunteer.

Hide AdAnn feels honoured to receive her honour on behalf of “all the people who give their skills and time voluntarily”,
She said: “We have so many people in our community helping organisations. People in Northern Ireland are very good at giving and sharing their skills.”
