DUP MLA Sydney Anderson has welcomed news that agreement has been reached for a road improvement scheme on the B77 Loughgall Road near Kilmoriarty Orange Hall.
Mr Anderson said road improvements there are overdue.
“There has been a great increase in the level of traffic, in particular heavy goods vehicles, which have been using the Loughgall Road. Many people within the local community use the hall facility and as such there has been a genuine need for road safety measures and a minor works scheme to be carried out. Transport NI have previously introduced some road safety improvements with signage and markings being put in place along the Loughgall Road. These improvements have helped to increase road safety in the area surrounding Kilmoriarty Hall, but there has been a real need for the road to be widened to further enhance safety,” he said.
“It is positive to learn that we have now reached the position where Transport NI have agreed to carry out the necessary widening of the road in the area subject to the necessary land being available and the availability of necessary resources.
“I have lobbied for this to be carried out from mid-2013 and it is encouraging to see that we are now moving to the stage where the necessary improvements can be carried out which will benefit road users and those who avail of the facilities at the orange hall.”
