Searches as police in rural crime crackdown

There was an arrest and a number of searches last night (Thursday) in the Armagh area as the police went out on patrol to tackle rural crime.

Officers were joined by staff from HMRC and DAERA (the new name for DARD) in “high visibility patrols”.

According to police, an uninsured vehicle was also taken off the road and HMRC seized a number of vehicles using illicit fuel.

DAERA also helped with a livestock issue.

The police plan to conduct further joint operations with DAERA and HMRC in the near future.
