Upper Bann MP David Simpson said the total raised by his annual Christmas sit-outs has now topped £30,000.

The DUP man holds the sit-outs each year in Banbridge, Lurgan and Portadown and this is the 10th year in a row he has undertaken the fundraising effort.

Mr Simpson thanked the people of Upper Bann for their generous donations to local charities over the last 10 years.

He continued, “I am always overwhelmed by the generosity and shear goodwill of the people of this great constituency. With all the financial pressures home owners are facing it never ceases to amaze me just how giving people are. It has been an honour to host my sit out for the last 10 years and if the Lord spares me I will endeavour to continue these efforts well into the future!

“I speak on behalf of the numerous charities when I say a massive thank-you for the consistent and kind donations of the people to these worthy causes. Despite the cold weather, this year alone we raised over £3,000 for three worthy causes Donard and Ceara Special Schools and the Mandeville Unit at Craigavon Hospital. I am indebted to the work of these organisations and I wish them well on their future efforts within our area.”
