Speeder overtook police car

Thomas Hamilton-Stubber, Aghory Road, Richhill, was also fined £100 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that on December 31 last year police were travelling on the M1 at 74mph when they were overtaken by a car.

They followed it for a mile and it reached speeds of 85mph and over.

A fixed penalty was accepted by the defendant but it was not paid.

Hamilton-Stubber told police he had lost his licence over the Christmas period and would have to apply for a new one.

The defendant did not appear at last Wednesday’s court and a conviction was recorded.
