A taxi driver was fined £120 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for driving without due care and attention on July 24 last year.

Michael O’Connor (46), Obins Drive, Portadown, was also given three penalty points.

The court heard that police spoke to the injured party about an incident of careless driving in Market Street, Lurgan. She said that a taxi had nearly knocked her and her mother down.

When police spoke to O’Connor he said he had not come close to hitting any pedestrians but admitted banging his head on the steering wheel in frustration.

During an interview with police he admitted putting his head on the steering wheel in the car but denied any allegations about the manner of his driving.
