Teens charged after Lurgan rioting

Two 15-year-old boys are to appeared in court on charges linked to riots in Lurgan at the weekend.

One has been charged with riotous behaviour, arson and placing an object on a railway with intent to obstruct or overthrow an engine.

He is expected to appear before Lisburn Magistrates Court later this morning, Tuesday 29 March.

Another has been charged with riotous behaviour, making a petrol bomb and throwing a petrol bomb.

He is expected to appear before Craigavon Youth Court on Tuesday 12 April.

As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The charges are in connection with public disorder in the Kilwilkie area of Lurgan yesterday afternoon when a number of petrol bombs were thrown at police during the disturbances. During the disorder two police officers were injured. Their injuries are not believed to be serious.
