The Federation of Women’s Institutes Moyallen area group meeting was held recently in Mullavilly Parish Centre with 116 members attending and eight institutes represented.

The following reports were given: Federation Report - Mrs Roberta Hall outgoing Executive Member; Sub-committee Report - Janet Kells; Arts & Leisure, Joyce Stewart – Magazine & Leisure; Institute Reports – Tandragee – Jenny Christie; Tartaraghan – Joy Reaney; Vinecash – Eileen Millar; Whitehall & District – Deirdre Mairs

Guest speaker Professor George Bain spoke of his love and involvement with the Ulster Orchestra by securing funding and also gave an insight into the work they do.

June Matchett of Tartaraghan Wi gave a vote of thanks.

The following Area Awards were presented by Mrs Kathleen Verner, new Executive member; Moyallen Salver – Mrs Molly Trimble Vinecash WI, Mrs Margaret Best Drumcree W.I; Bowls Finalist - Mrs Dolores, Cassidy Laurelvale WI;

Quiz Finalist - Levaghery WI team - Mrs Beth Anderson, Mrs Anne Black, Mrs Beverley Wickham. Renella Graham Cup for Inter Institute Competition of a Floral Arrangement entitled ‘Blue Bottle; was won by Loughgall WI; Philomena MacMorrow Trophy for highest percentage attending this meeting – Tandragee WI.

Supper was served by Levaghery WI and Tandragee WI performed a hilarious sketch.

Mrs Kathleen Verner presented outgoing Executive member Roberta Hall with an arrangement of flowers.

Johanna Robinson, Drumcree WI gave the general vote of thanks to Rev Elizabeth Cairns and the Select Vestry of Mullavilly for the use of the Parish Hall and highlighted the role of the individual Women’s Institutes.

She finally thanked area secretary Mrs Lesley Strain for her hard work.

Area chairman Mrs Nuala Campbell brought the evening to a close adding her thanks to everyone.
