The theft of the rear wheels and linkage mechanism from the Massey Ferguson took place in an overnight raid on the Stockingmans Hill Road near Armagh at the weekend.

It has been condemned by Newry & Armagh DUP Assemblyman William Irwin who said it was all the more despicable given that the tractor’s owner is in hospital.

The tractor was being used by his neighbour and friend Brian McMahon who was tending to his livestock while he recovers.

Said Mr Irwin, “Mr McMahon had stepped in kindly to tend to his livestock and used the tractor to carry out this duty, bringing it back to his home on Stockingmans Hill Road each night.

“You can therefore understand Mr McMahon’s total shock and dismay when on Sunday morning his wife looked out the window towards the yard and told him the tractor’s rear wheels were missing.”

He added, “I have spoken to police and I would urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious around this general area on the outskirts of Armagh City to contact the PSNI immediately and assist with their inquiries.”
