Barnardo’s in Portadown are appealing for unwanted Christmas gifts.

The most popular and fastest selling Christmas gift of 2015 the Selfie Stick is now also considered to be one of the worst presents to receive this festive period, a new poll for Barnardo’s has revealed.

While 46 per cent of people in Northern Ireland said the selfie stick was the least wanted Christmas gift this year, unsurprisingly, musical socks (38 per cent), bathroom scales (34 per cent) and a set of saucepans (25per cent) were also high on the list of unpopular gifts.

The research also reveals that a quarter of presents are re-gifted to friends and family, while 39 per cent give their unsuitable gifts to a charity shop, another 28 per cent hide and forget about them and 7 per cent throw them in the bin.

Barnardo’s is appealing for all unsuitable gifts to be donated to their Portadown shop at Thomas Street, to help transform the lives of the most disadvantaged children in Northern Ireland.

Barnardo’s has over 35 stores in the Northern Ireland which sell donated items including clothing, accessories, quality homeware, books CDs and DVDs.
