After vomiting in the street a Portadown man made a rude gesture at police and was arrested for disorderly behaviour.
Nelson Clarke (34), Glanroy Avenue, Portadown, was put on probation for 12 months when he appeared last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.
The court heard that on January 1 this year at 3.55pm at Rectory Park police saw the defendant who was highly intoxicated.
He vomited on the footpath and then put up his middle finger towards police. He shouted “what the f—k do you want” at them.
A solicitor for Clarke said that since the age of 15 he had a chronic alcohol problem.
He added that all his disorderly behaviour offences were because of alcohol. He had attended AA and sometimes this was successful but he did fall off the wagon.
The solicitor said his client had been attending a football match and he vomited due to the effect of drink. He has not had a drink since.
District Judge Mr Mervyn Bates also re-imposed a suspended sentence for a further period of three years.
