A young Portadown woman who drove into a sign at a garage had to pay over £800 to meet the cost of the damage.
Danielle Stinson (18), Lyndon Gate, Portadown, was fined £120 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for driving without due care and attention on July 18 last year.
She also received three penalty points and was ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.
The court heard that police were notified a car had damaged a sign at the Topaz garage on the Gilford Road, Portadown.
The incident was caught on CCTV and the defendant was identified. She made a full admission.
A solicitor representing the defendant said she had sat her theory test that morning, had failed it and was quite upset.
He added that she had made restitution for the damage which came to £882.
District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said it was her first offence and she already had paid a substantial amount.
