Three Slimming World consultants have struck gold for the exceptional work they do in helping almost 700 people lose weight every week.
Local women Amanda Girvan, Eleanor Crory and Letty McCann were presented with their gold awards at the slimming club’s annual awards ceremony in Birmingham.
The accolade is awarded in recognition of achieving the highest levels of support for slimmers, and giving expert advice to help people reach their weight-loss goals week after week.
Eleanor Crory, whose group meets at Portadown Rugby Club, said, “I am delighted to have received this Gold Award. I love my job, I’m passionate about helping people to change their lives by losing weight and seeing them succeed is reward enough, so being given this recognition really is the icing on the cake.”
Letty, who holds her classes at the Seagoe Hotel, agreed, “It’s not just a triumph for us. This award belongs to our members too. They’re the ones who make our groups the success that they are, with their fabulous commitment, the lovely warm welcome they give new members and the wonderful compassionate support they give each other every week, and, obviously, their impressive weight losses while following Slimming World’s Food Optimising eating plan.”
Amanda Girvan, team developer for the area, holds her classes at Hart Memorial PS. She added, “Obesity is at record levels everywhere and with many adults in the area being affected, people are suffering a range of weight-related health problems from diabetes to heart problems and feelings of low self-worth that impact on their working and personal lives every day. So anything that helps people to lose weight by adopting healthy eating habits and becoming more active is making a difference – both to themselves and future generations too.”
