EXCITEMENT is growing in athletics circles ahead of the Craigavon Lakes 10km race and fun run.
The event - which will get underway at 7 o’clock on Wednesday, June 4 - is being organised by Craigavon Borough Council in partnership with Tops Cats Triathlon Club and St Peter’s Athletics Club.

Starting and finishing at Craigavon Watersports Ce
ntre, the route will take in the pathways around the picturesque Craigavon Lakes and City Parks areas.

For those participants who don’t fancy 10km, there will be a 5km fun run and also a 1km family challenge on the same evening.

The 1km family challenge is open to everyone and can be completed by running or walking.

Proceeds from all entrants will go to Macmillan Cancer Support and sponsorship forms will be available.

“The event promises to be a great sporting spectacle which should attract a good field of local athletes along with many visitors to the borough,” said the Mayor of Craigavon, Councillor Robert Smith. “It is especially pleasing to see a 1km family challenge, which will help make it a real family occasion.”

For further information or to request an entry form for this exciting event contact Craigavon Borough Council’s sports development unit on (028) 38 311690 or (028) 38 311692.
