LOUGHGALL manager, Niall Currie (pictured), has challenged his players to use Wednesday's cup triumph over top-flight Institute as the team's blueprint for future progress.
The IFA Championship-based villagers brushed aside Institute by a 3-1 margin over the Co-operative Insurance Cup third-round tie.
"I have never had any doubts over the quality within my squad but it is safe to say that the bar has now been set,"
said Currie. "That performance was as good as any away from home in my time as Loughgall manager.
"Not only due to the result but the manner in which we defeated Institute and, to be honest, it could have been five or six.
"I do not normally get over-excited about any result but across the pitch we were superb and obviously the Premiership is the level we want to be playing at in the future."
The memorable midweek win will offer Loughgall a major boost entering the forthcoming double-header with Coagh United over two fronts in the space of four days.
The villagers play host to Coagh at Lakeview Park tomorrow (Saturday) in the league then travel to Dungannon's Stangmore Park on Tuesday for a second clash, with a spot in the Bob Radcliffe Cup final the prize from the midweek tie.
Coagh hold a three-point lead over Loughgall in the league standings, with both teams tipped to challenge for this season's title.
"We must produce the same levels of application and commitment against Coagh, plus in future fixtures, as we did on Wednesday," said the Loughgall boss. "There is a lot at stake in both Coagh games.
"Coagh are sitting around the top of the table for a reason, they have plenty of quality.
"On top of the desire to win those individual games, we go into the fixture list with extra motivation as the players want to bounce back from the recent league defeat by Carrick Rangers."
Loughgall finished last season's second-tier schedule with no fewer than five prizes, including the league title and Bob Radcliffe Cup - the latter won thanks to victory over Coagh in the Boxing Day showpiece.
"Last season's Bob Radcliffe Cup win helped us kick on over the second half of the season and the festive final is a fantastic occasion," said the Loughgall boss. "I am able to call on greater strength-in-depth this time around, although injuries have knocked us back over the opening few months of the campaign.
"I have been able to shuffle the squad around and they have continued to perform.
"I could not ask for anything more from the lads."
Kick-off tomorrow (Saturday) at Lakeview Park will be 3 o'clock, with Tuesday's semi-final set to start in Dungannon at 7.30.
