NIALL Currie's level of frustration with the season's fixture list hit a peak this week following two postponements inside the space of four days.
Adverse weather conditions forced games against Ards and Annagh United to be placed on the backburner and Currie has highlighted the potential problems created by a recent lack of football.
"We basically have played something like one game in four
weeks and it is going to be over a month by the time this weekend rolls around," said Currie. "Two blank dates did not help matters, especially as now is the time of year when games get hit by bad weather.
"This is the second highest league in the country so I do not understand how we could have been left with two consecutive free weekends.
"Players need games to maintain match fitness and now I am faced with a panel of 18 suffering on that front.
"The aim as a manager is to juggle the pack across the season and the various competitions to keep everyone at around the same fitness level.
"Now it is a case of those who played against Bangor dropping down in fitness due to a lack of games and other players unable to get minutes in cup competitions as a result of the weather.
"It is far from ideal but hopefully we can mix-and-match over the next few weeks to get back on track.
"We face Bloomfield on Saturday in the Intermediate Cup at Lakeview Park.
"The plan is to add another game to the schedule on Tuesday.”
Loughgall will face Annagh United in Armagh City’s Holm Park on Tuesday for a spot in the Bob Radcliffe Cup final.
Kick-off tomorrow (Saturday) at Lakeview Park against Bloomfield will be 2.30.
Tuesday’s match will start at 7.30
LAKEVIEW Blues Supporters' Club officials have organised a table quiz to take place tomorrow (Saturday) in the clubrooms from 5 o'clock.
