ALL-IRELAND League results may point to troubled times at Chambers Park but Portadown coach, Hike Reid, is refusing to write off his players.
Saturday's reverse at Suttonians added to the pressure on Portadown entering the final stages of the Division Three campaign.

Portadown need to regroup and turn the tables to avoid slipping into the relegation zone but Reid continues to place his
full confidence in the squad.

"We have been without so many experienced players for long spells this season and even lost two during Saturday's pre-match warm-up period," said Reid. "That tells a tale of how things are going at the minute but, as a coach, I am delighted to see the lads remain upbeat and determined to turn this run around.

"We have the guys at this club but now is the time to stand up and be strong.

"We have a depleted panel but this season has allowed other players the opportunity to gain experience and I have every confidence in this group of lads.

"When it rains it pours in terms of injuries but the Suttonians defeat featured a number of positives.

"They hit us too often on the break but we simply failed to capitalise on good approach play.

"However, the lads all signed off on the gameplan and know what is needed to put points on the board.

"The mental belief is a key aspect and that remains strong so now it is about application.

"It has been a frustrating season, with the squad stretched thin but everyone must now dig deep."
