ANNAGH United manager, Keith Wilkinson, is confident the commitment levels on display last weekend will ultimately lead to positive results despite the 4-2 defeat by Dundela.
United moved into the lead before the break when Martin Hughes picked out Brian Quilty and his pass into the path of Chris Guiney was converted on the run by the substitute.

Dundela hit back to hold the upper hand early in the second half but Uni
ted made it 2-2 when Quilty slotted the ball under the advancing goalkeeper.

Two goals in the closing eight minutes handed Dundela a convincing margin of victory but one which fails to accurately reflect the hard-fought affair, according to Wilkinson.

"It was one of those days when everything that could go wrong did go wrong," he said. "It was 2-2 with eight minutes left but we switched off then conceded a fourth in the final seconds.

"We lost Keith Percy to injury on 25 minutes so that forced a change.

"We feel there was a clear handball in the build-up to the Dundela equaliser and the second goal should have been stopped for a throw-in.

"We also had Michael Crowe sent off for a second bookable offence which we feel was extremely harsh.

"Those aspects are frustrating but I could not have asked for anything more from the players last weekend in terms of commitment to each other and the club.

"They battled for everything, even with 10 men, so we consider it a defeat we did not deserve.

"It is important now that we pick ourselves up and move forward but another plus is that the boys remain upbeat.

"Our scheduled Intermediate Cup match has been postponed this weekend and we must wait to see if a game can take place on Tuesday.

"If so, the midweek match will be against Loughgall at Holm Park in the Bob Radcliffe Cup semi-final."

Kick-off on Tuesday in Armagh City’s Holm Park will be 7.30.
