Relegation disappointment across the long-serving skipper’s era with the village seniors must stand as the key setback that allows Sinton to put small details into context.

A win of over 100 runs against BISC helped Laurelvale recover from back-to-back Section Two defeats the margin of victory presented Sinton a welcome chance to bank the rewards but review the performance levels in search of room for improvement.

“It is always great if you can win then look back over the game and look for areas to learn from and develop,” said Sinton. “It is not about being critical but more trying to keep on improving as a group.

“We did not have that one single individual innings which stood out against BISC so it was more a case of a group of us with double-figure returns.

“Our bowling and fielding proved strong overall, with the score of around 250 decent from the batsmen overall.”

Laurelvale marched into the Twenty20 Shield semi-finals with a midweek defeat of Templepatrick. Knockout progress will also be the target tomorrow (Saturday) against Cliftonville in the Junior Cup quarter-finals.
