Knocknamuckley celebrate victory in the NA Sports/LBBOB-backed Boys' Brigade Soccer Sevens under 18s' final at Mourneview Park.

Ahorey and Knocknamuckley captured silverware at Glenavon’s Mourneview Park on Saturday to close out the NA Sports/LBBOB Boys’ Brigade Soccer Sevens in style.

Ahorey defeated Edenderry Methodist by 3-2 in the under 14s’ showpiece - with Knocknamuckley edging out Maralin at under 18 level on a 2-1 tally.

Ahorey wrapped up a first BB Soccer Sevens triumph in the tournament’s 12-year history following victory against the team with the strongest track record.

The Methodist players held the lead on two occasions but Ahorey grabbed the final’s decisive goal.

Current holders Maralin lost a grip on the under 18s’ prize as Knocknamuckley claimed the crucial opening goal and managed to protect the lead until half-time.

Knocknamuckley doubled the advantage after the break then worked hard to maintain control despite Maralin closing the gap.
