ANNAGH United Youth under 13s collected a post-Christmas prize on New Year’s Day thanks to success in the Lisburn League Shield final.
A Jackson Nesbitt double - plus goals by Darragh Gray, Dillon Hughes and Rhys Calvert - provided Annagh with youth success at Ballymacoss against Oxford Sunnyside.
Sunnyside moved into the lead inside the opening minute but Annagh battled back, with Gray named as winner of the final’s ‘player-of-the-match’ award.
“It was a brilliant performance by the boys, especially as Oxford Sunnyside scored the first goal before we managed a 5-2 win,” said Jeff Taylor, the team manager. “We have a great bunch of lads at the club and the support from the parents has been wonderful.
“Annagh United have really backed the team, with Derek Harrison a big part of our progress thanks to his training facility.
“From my viewpoint, I am also grateful to Gary Smith and Elsie Corkin on the coaching team.
“It has been a productive season so far, with the boys also doing well in the Lisburn League.
“We have a group of 13 players, with Brandon Gribben available at different times.”
