Back on track
RYAN Donaldson’s first goal of the season proved the highlight as Portadown thirds returned to winning ways on Saturday at the expense of Ballymoney United.
The thirds returned from a recent blank run of dates refreshed and ready to make amends for some below-par performances.
Andy Stewart’s goal from inside the area pushed Portadown into the lead before Donaldson opened his account for the season when a speculative effort found the net.
Josh Black then attacked from midfield to connect and score Portadown’s final goal.
“The 3-1 win was a much-improved display and helped us recover from a bad run,” said third-team manager, Chris Wright. “I made it clear before the game that the focus is now on next season so each player must prove he is worthy of a future at Portadown.
“Players at this club have an opportunity to build a future in the game but it is something only hard work and the correct approach can help achieve.”
Portadown thirds visit Annagh United tomorrow (Saturday) in the league.
PORTADOWN THIRDS: Chris Davison, Nathan McCann, Jordan Wilson, Robin Carson, James Wright, Nathan McConnell, Andrew Stewart, Scott Farquhar, Ryan Donaldson, Andy Mallen, Michael Corrigan. Subs: Ben Steen, Adam Scorah, Josh Black, Andy Stewart.
