The loss of a double appeal by the Shamrock Park club against IFA disciplinary decisions has resulted in confirmation of a 12-point league deduction and 3-0 win awarded to Coleraine.

Sections of the Ports fanbase have directed anger at the Board of Directors in response to the verdict. An open letter published by the Portadown Supporters’ Society expressed a feeling of “no confidence” in the board and called for change to the current structure before Monday.

A meeting of directors and manager Pat McGibbon was held yesterday to discuss the future.

“A means of restructuring the club’s Board of Directors to add some fresh faces has been discussed by officials since the summer,” said McMahon. “Now the IFA appeals process has finished, we will take steps to speed up that situation.

“We have identified various problems and shortcomings and aim to help address those by adding to, rather than changing, the current Board of Directors.

“We will now look at suitable candidates.”

Portadown sit bottom of the Danske Bank Premiership table on a minus-six points tally after 11 games and host Coleraine tomorrow from 5.30.
