Gallagher goal the highlight for Rovers

MARSHALL CUP
(ROUND FOUR)
ARMAGH ROVERS 2 TANDRAGEE ROVERS 6

TANDRAGEE Rovers found the net six times on Saturday to ease past Armagh Rovers in the Marshall Cup.

An early goal was scored when AJ Gallagher’s free-kick was headed home by Cecil Corbett.

Paul Greenaway narrowly missed out on a goal before reacting first inside the box to convert a loose ball.

The combination between Gallagher and Corbett resulted in a third goal, with the only difference to the first the fact that the former’s delivery arrived from a corner-kick.

A swift break allowed Rovers to race clear and turn defence into attack but shouts for handball after Corbett’s effort was blocked were dismissed by the referee.

Number four arrived before the interval thanks to Gerard Magee’s crisp strike from the edge of the box.

A penalty kick was awarded to Rovers early in the second half but Corbett’s spot-kick attempt was saved and Rovers then reduced the deficit with a back-post header.

Corbett and Greenaway combined to allow Mark Bicker (pictured) the chance to net Rovers’ fifth of the afternoon before a second was scored by Rovers.

Gallagher wrapped up the victory with a superb strike from distance into the top corner.
