Hendron flying high
MID-ULSTER SHIELD (ROUND FOUR) DUNGANNON ROVERS 1 SCARVA RANGERS 3
SCARVA Rangers secured a spot in the Mid-Ulster Shield quarter-finals on Saturday thanks to a 3-1 success over Dungannon Rovers.
Rangers made the trip to take on a side placed one division higher in the Mid-Ulster Football League ladder but returned with a well-earned win.
Stephen Hendron displayed strength and pace to control and convert the tie’s opening goal.
Rangers had to regroup following Dungannon Rovers’ equaliser – with Ryan Dodds winning possession before Greg Douglas fed the loose ball forward for Dean McCammon to race clear and slot home.
Mark Baird then attacked along the right and delivered a low cross which Douglas tucked away following an initial save by the Rovers goalkeeper.
Rovers’ afternoon finished with a red card – with Baird, Neil Anderson and McCammon the visitors’ leading players.
