RICHARD Lecky will remain a Portadown player until the end of the Danske Bank Premiership campaign.

The striker recently requested to be made available to other clubs in a bid to gain regular first-team football. He will become a free agent in the summer.

It is understood that Coleraine, Ballinamallard United and Dungannon Swifts have contacted the Ports to officially notify the club of interest in signing the striker.

However, Ronnie McFall – the Ports boss – has refused to enter into negotiations.

“Irrespective of whether we add to the squad or not in January, Richard will remain at the club,” said McFall. “Clubs can discuss deals directly with Richard given the fact he is within the final six months of his contract.

“However, we are not prepared to let Richard go in January and I have made that position clear to those interested.

“I have obviously had a discussion with Richard about his circumstances and am happy he will continue to show the same dedication and professionalism for the rest of the season.

“We have made it clear we are not going to be entertaining any offers for Richard during this window.”
