Portadown and Linfield have tonight (Tuesday) reached an agreement over the transfer of Chris Casement.

Casement submitted a transfer request at the end of last season and negotiations between the clubs have now been finalised.

Protracted talks over the fee for the experienced defender pushed the move into the closing stages of July but now Casement must simply sign off on personal terms.

Casement, of course, moved to the Ports from Linfield in 2012 and was connected to Shamrock Park on a lengthy contract.

However, the Ports have accepted the player’s desire to move on and manager Pat McGibbon will continue to reshape his squad ahead of the forthcoming Danske Bank Premiership campaign.

The club kitty at Portadown has been bolstered by a transfer fee but Irish Football Association restrictions prevent McGibbon from signing players on professional terms until next June.
