The Mid-Ulster Intermediate League Section B success arrived courtesy of a slick attacking display by the Swifts against a depleted Dungannon outfit.

Rovers’ selection problems prior to kick-off were increased with a red card inside the opening moments.

“It was our biggest win this season,” said Markethill Swifts manager David Andrews. “Rovers told us before kick-off how much they were struggling to field a side and a red card left them with an early setback.

“However, we can only look after our own situation and performance.

“We have lost in the past to sides with 10 men and also managed to rescue a win despite having a red card.

“You can never take the circumstances for granted and I was pleased with the professional approach produced by our players.”

Neil Shaw pushed his tally for the campaign to 30 goals in 26 appearances but the main scoring honours went to Simon Andrews on Saturday thanks to a first-half hat-trick.

Bobby Sturgeon - who replaced Andrews as a second-half substitutes - scored two goals.

A brace from Ryan McMahon offered the perfect bonus in the aftermath of his first goal for Markethill Swifts in the previous weekend programme.
