Jamie McAleenan kicked off and closed the scoring as Ballyoran booked a spot in the Mid-Ulster Shield quarter-finals.

McAleenan’s double arrived either side of a Tony Marley finish in the 3-0 defeat of Ashgrove Rovers.

McAleenan fired home the opening goal from distance before Marley linked up with Chris McDonald to double the tally.

McAleenan wrapped up the scoring to cap McDonald’s slick creative work.

Darragh McKee hit the post with one effort and Michael McNiece was left frustrated with a shot cleared off the Ashgrove line.

Martin Savage clocked up a fifth successive clean sheet.
