McCullough fires in Hanover volley

MID-ULSTER INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE SECTION B
RICHHILL 1 HANOVER 3

SCOTT McCullough’s volley sparked Hanover’s derby fightback on Saturday against Richhill.

Richhill took the lead thanks to Johnny Allen at the end of neat work between Sam Kelly and Milne Nellins.

Steven Hyndes hit the post for Hanover before McCullough made his mark with a neat volley from inside the penalty area on 40 minutes.

The first-half drama continued when Richhill squandered a golden opportunity to regain control as Allen turned a shot wide of the target from David Ross’ delivery.

A second Hanover goal arrived thanks to Dean Bunting’s back-post finish from a Steven Douglas cross.

Kyle Davison, the Richhill captain, proved at the heart of the action at either end of the pitch by clearing one attempt off his own line before testing Matthew Shortt soon after with a fine strike.

Hanover pushed on over the second half and added a third goal thanks to Hyndes’ well-timed run to evade the offside trap before a composed finish.

Gary Topley enjoyed an impressive debut in the Hanover midfield.

Richhill players and officials would like to thank Café Casa (Richhill) and Wally Holmes for providing matchday sponsorship.
