Portadown-born Luke McCullough completed his second full game at senior international level this morning (Thursday) as Northern Ireland lost to Chile by 2-0.
The Doncaster Rovers centre-back attracted praise for his composed debut performance as part of a three-man defensive unit in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat by Uruguay.
McCullough’s display secured a second successive starting spot for the 20-year-old in international colours as Northern Ireland completed the two-game tour of South America in Chile.
Northern Ireland made five substitutions but McCullough remained on the pitch until the final whistle, with Chile securing the win as part of World Cup preparations thanks to late goals by Eduardo Vargas and Mauricio Pinilla.
The previous player from Portadown to make a senior Northern Ireland debut was Keith Rowland in 1993.
