Luke McCullough’s pre-season debut with Doncaster Rovers suffered a premature end on Tuesday night due to injury - just days after signing a two-year contract extension.
The Portadown-born defender was part of the Northern Ireland panel for EURO 2016 but switched his focus back to club commitments with a first on-pitch appearance in Rovers’ friendly against York City.
However, a knee injury reduced his return to around 14 minutes and McCullough must now wait on results of a scan to clarify the situation.
“It is great to get the paperwork done as I really enjoy it at Rovers,” said McCullough. “The boss put me in midfield last season and I love getting more involved in the action and on the ball.
“The goal now is obviously to get us back up into League One.”
