AFTER the successful capture of striker Gary Twigg, Ports manager Ronnie McFall has told the Portadown Times that he is hoping to bring more new faces into the team.
Linfield’s Aaron Burns has trained with Portadown, but McFall says fans should not read too much into that.
“Aaron’s brother Andrew asked me if he could train with us and he has had two weeks with us,” said McFall. “While he is a player I admire and would like to sign that is not likely for two reasons. First, Aaron has set his sights set on a full time career in England and has been at Everton and I understand he is going to Derby County this week. Secondly, if Aaron does remain here then Linfield will seek a development fee which would be a stumbling block.”
The boss did admit that he is looking for more players. “You are always looking to see what you can bring in and I would hope to sign two more players when the transfer window opens in January.
“It is a massive boost to bring in the likes of Gary Twigg this week, but hopefully he will not be the last as we try and improve the squad.”
