Nesbitt nets two
MID-ULSTER INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE SECTION A FIVEMILETOWN UNITED 1 BROOMHILL 3
RICHARD Nesbitt celebrated his return to Broomhill with a brace of goals in Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Fivemiletown United.
Nesbitt recently rejoined the club following time with IFA Championship 2-based Annagh United. He wasted little time in getting back on the goal trail.
The match also provided Stephen Whitten with his Broomhill debut following a decision by the long-serving Laurelvale captain to join Tony Bell’s top-flight squad.
A penalty kick placed Fivemiletown in control at the break but Broomhill regrouped to enjoy the upper hand after the interval.
Nesbitt levelled the match before David Taylor’s header put Broomhill clear by 2-1 after 81 minutes.
Nesbitt then reacted to convert the loose ball after a Whitten drive had been saved and the former Annagh forward came close to increasing his tally.
“Richard had another effort cleared off the line and also a few other chances,” said Bell, the Broomhill boss. “Stephen will add real strength and leadership to the side but the best player on the day was a teenager, Gareth Reece.”
BROOMHILL: Philip Baird, Andy Forde, Steven Hewitt, Conor Kenny, Stephen Whitten, Gareth Reece, Ryan Harper, Andy McHugh, Richard Nesbitt, David Taylor, Jake Harper. Subs: Chris Chambers, Ryan Metcalfe.
