Kevin McAlinden’s injury-time header secured a dramatic 4-3 victory on the road for Portadown against 10-man Coleraine in NIFL Youth League Section A.

McAlinden steered home his back-post effort off a sweeping Peter Campbell cross after Coleraine had battled back from a 3-1 deficit to level.

Scott Megaw kicked off the scoring thanks to clever control from Tiernan Judge’s delivery, a driving run and delicate finish with the outside of his boot.

An own goal put Coleraine level but McAlinden’s near-post run and finish then converted Judge’s pass.

Joel Adams’ crossfield ball was knocked in by Campbell for 3-1 ahead of a Coleraine deflection and penalty.

McAlinden, however, had the final say.

“I was pleased with how we got the momentum back after losing that lead,” said Chris Wright, manager of the thirds. “Our game management was much better.”
