Portadown finished with 10 men but had a penalty miss to look back on during Saturday’s frustrating 0-0 draw at home to Carrick Rangers.

Tim Mouncey’s first-half red card left the Ports on the backfoot.

However, Mark McAllister was presented with a number of scoring opportunities as the home side carved out openings across the Danske Bank Premiership fixture.

A golden chance arrived when a penalty kick was awarded to the Ports in the second half - but McAllister’s shot was saved by Brian Neeson.

PORTADOWN: David Miskelly, Chris Casement, Ross Redman, Keith O’Hara, Ken Oman, Sean Mackle, Mark McAllister, Michael Gault, Tim Mouncey, Philip Lowry, Marcio Soares. Subs: Martin Marron, Chris Ramsey, Mikey Withers (on for McAllister, 85 mins), Matthew Parker, Garry Breen.
