Portadown finished 2-0 down to Crusaders in the latest NIFL Reserve League game - with a number of players on show having represented the senior side the previous night against Loughgall.
“We lost 2-0 but it was a pretty young side overall, with Paul Leeman just one of the experienced names in the Crusaders team,” said Gary McCullough, manager of the reserves. “Going up against someone like Paul can only help our players and obviously the experience from the Mid-Ulster Cup match in Loughgall was a brilliant boost.
“Five or six played in both games so those minutes will really help the lads’ development.”
The reserves can look forward to two Shamrock Parks games within five days - against Cliftonville (Saturday) and Linfield (Wednesday).
