Tandragee trophy success for McCormick

Stephen McCormick was victorious in the W Hamilton Memorial competition at Tandragee Golf Club last weekend.

Stephen, who plays off 20 handicap, scored 41 points to finish top of the pile.

Also scoring 41 points was John Haffey, but Stephen had a better back nine of 23 points to claim first prize.

John scored 22 points on the back nine.

John Weir finished in third place with 40 points. Fourth prize was won by Ralph Buckley with 39 points beating Robin Hanlon on the back nine countback. Ralph scored 22 points and Robin scored 20 points.

The gross prize was won by Paul Topley with two under par 69 gross.

The Yellow Block competition was won by Mervyn McCrea with 37 points.

The Sunday stableford was won by Geoff Forbes with 41 points.

Kevin McAviney also scored 41 points finished second.

Geoff scored 21 points on the back nine to beat Kevin on the countback. Kevin had a back nine score of 17 points.

The ladies competition on Thursday was sponsored by Tandragee Pro Shop.

The winner of the competition was Kerry Gooding.

Kerry has just recently joined the ladies branch after participating in the ‘Get into Golf’ programme, which was held at the club earlier in the year.

Playing off a handicap of 36, Kerry scored an excellent score of 40 points.

Lady President, Vera Brady, scored 39 points to finish in second place and Julie McCarten won third prize with 36 points.
