MARSHALL CUP (ROUND TWO) HANOVER 1 TANDRAGEE ROVERS 5
TANDRAGEE Rovers’ five-star performance resulted in a comprehensive derby success at Brownstown Park.
Rovers’ opening goal was scored with around one minute on the clock as Jamie Uprichard broke the deadlock from Paul Greenaway’s (pictured) pass.
Greenaway, AJ Gallagher and Cecil Corbett each looked sharp in the Rovers attack but the teams remained on level terms in the aftermath of Hanover’s equaliser.
Corbett eventually steered the visitors back on top by taking advantage of defensive confusion to lob into a gaping goal.
The second half featured strong play by Rovers and a Greenaway double moved the Tandragee men into a 4-1 lead.
Greenaway initially reacted first following a blocked shot by Uprichard before latching on to a mishit backpass.
Two Rovers substitutes - Willie Duke and Ian Walker - combined to place Hanover under pressure and an own goal added to the hosts’ misery.
Johnny O’Neill found the net for Hanover by converting Joel Richardson’s delivery.
“Tandragee Rovers are very good and certainly do not need our help in winning games,” said the Hanover manager, Bill Richardson. “That turned out to be the case last weekend as we basically gifted Rovers at least four goals.
“We failed to track runners from midfield and looked poor defensively.”
