MID-ULSTER LEAGUE DIVISION TWO PORTADOWN BBOB 10 ARMAGH CELTIC 1
SAM Thornbury topped the Portadown BBOB scoring charts on Saturday with a treble in the side’s 10-1 defeat of Armagh Celtic.
It was 1-0 on three minutes as Matthew Anderson’s free-kick was converted by the enthusiastic Thornbury.
Jeff McCann produced early stops for BBOB but additional goals arrived thanks to David Jameson – off Anderson’s free-kick – and a Matt Donaldson penalty kick.
BBOB grabbed four goals across just 12 second-half minutes during some slick passing and movement.
Aaron Thornbury tucked away a Donaldson delivery then Neil Taylor forced in Anderson’s free-kick cross.
Thornbury moved one step closer to his hat-trick by finishing William Donaldson’s neat approach play.
The excellent Donaldson added to the margin of victory ahead of John Henderson’s free-kick.
The Donaldson brothers – Matt and Willie – combined for Thornbury to secure the matchday ball.
The final goal arrived from distance thanks to the quick-thinking Willie Donaldson following an error by the goalkeeper.
